We all know that Peter were the one that gave the correct answer when Jesus asked: “Who do you say that I am?” He said: “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God”. Jesus said: “….flesh and blood did not reveal this to you, but my father in Heaven.” What an amazing encouragement!
Now, what interests me is that he got it completely wrong about 6 verses later. Jesus tells them God’s plan on how He will be tortured, crucified and killed. Then He explained how he would overcome death, and become the saviour of mankind. Peter then takes Him aside and says (I am paraphrasing…….) Jesus, use positive confession! Don’t be so negative. You know good things comes to those who believe it. The bible says, Jesus….. I know the plans I have for you, plans to prosper and not to harm you! Come on Jesus, don’t think so negatively. Jesus answers:
But he turned and said to Peter, “Get behind me, Satan! You are a hindrance to me. For you are not setting your mind on the things of God, but on the things of man.”
God plans tough times for us. Thinking that only good will happen is not a biblical mindset. I think Jesus explained it best…… Whoever looses himself for the kingdom will find it. Understand that tough times will come but God will use it for the good of his people and through it …… I will have life ABUNDANTLY!
