Ambition is not actually a bad word. It is mainly used in a bad context, when we refer to people who are being favoured. Ambition is simply said, the earnest desire for some type of achievement or distinction, recognition, promotion or acknowledgement.
What makes ambition so ugly? The fact that someone with ambition will hurt others, step on them or even use them to attain the achievement! It is WHAT we have ambition for? If you are ambitious to attain money, you will have to use the world system to attain it.
What if we all were ambitious to become great in the Kingdom. We all look down on the disciples in this following verse, because of the ambition they had to become great in the Kingdom, but I think we misunderstand the hearts of the disciples.
Luke 22:24-30 – Who Is the Greatest?
A dispute also arose among them, as to which of them was to be regarded as the greatest. And he said to them, ………………
“You are those who have stayed with me in my trials, and I assign to you, as my Father assigned to me, a kingdom, that you may eat and drink at my table in my kingdom and sit on thrones judging the twelve tribes of Israel.
I ask you this one question. Why do you NOT desire to rule as an authority with Christ? I think we don’t have enough believers that want to become great in the Kingdom. Christ never said He will make you great, without you WANTING it. What about you?
