I remember, back in my youth days, that just about every youth camp ended with us dedicating ourselves to His service. By the third night all of us gave our lives to Jesus and by the last night we all reported for duty. Today I think I understand…………
As believers, we need to lay our lives down, daily. We have to desire to be in His service, and then lay our lives down to make us available for service. I remember those prayer. “Lord, Whatever you want me to do for you, I will do” and “send me Lord” or even “use me for anything you want”. That is reasonable, isn’t it. We should not only desire to be great, but make ourselves available for service.
A Living Sacrifice
I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship.
We love saying that we are Christians, but are we living lives dedicated to whatever God wants to do? You see, that if all the believers would have done this, we would now have been overstocked in leaders. The reality is that we are short in leaders. Maybe it is because normal Christians, are waiting for some Awesome experience and “calling” before we will do the deed. If I understand the word correct, we should give our daily lives and in that sacrifice, He will use us.
