The day at blood river, something extremely spectacular happened. It was a day marked by blood. Litterally! A few men faced a vast number of opponents. These men and women believed that they could overcome if God were on their side. They understood the incredible value of “God being on your side”. They were right! God on your side makes the greatest opponents crumble.
The sad part, is that they felt that it was necesary to make a promise to God, to sonehow give weight to their request. They could have simply asked ……… In the name of Jesus.
The phrase means ……….. I ask by the authority of Jesus. You see, Jesus don’t need any promise from you to give weight to your request. His authority is enough. People do this all the time. They think somehow that Jesus is not enough. They promise that they will be better. That they will do this or that. Somehow giving the authority of Jesus a nudge.
This is not only rediculous, but insulting to Jesus. When you ask anything, you should make sure Jesus is your Lord and then ask in His name, by faith, and leave it with Him.
If you ask me anything in my name, I will do it.
