People are driven by what they see and hear. Their emotions, responses and even their experiences. If you hear of a child that died in the congo because of diarrhoea our hearts melt and compassion fills our responses.
It is also true that different people respond to te same things they see and hear differently. You might see our late President Mandela, and some people will instantly be filled with hope and others immediately feel hatred or compassion.
If we are really honest, we will agree that our responses are only triggered by what we see. The reactions, feelings and experiences remain inside of us because of a previous encounter. When you see some people, you are instantaneously angry, because anger has found a way into your heart. Let me put it this way. You don’t become angry again, the old anger just pops up, isn’t it?
Through the eyes of jesus, the only response that pops up, no matter which person you show Him, is LOVE. His previous experience is love towards you.
Ephesians 5:1-2 – Therefore be imitators of God, as beloved children. And walk in love, as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us, a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.
There should not be any person that draw another response first, but one of love. Allow the Holy Spirit to wipe your heart clean from other feelings and be filled with love.
